Nubya Garcia is a jazz saxophonist, flautist, and multi-time Jazz FM Awards winner. Born in 1991 in Camden, London, England, she began playing the sax at 10 years old and released her debut album, Nubya's 5ive, in 2017. While furthering her solo career with follow-up releases like 2018's When We Are and 2020's Source, Garcia also participated in various side projects, including the "spiritual jazz" collective Maisha and the contemporary jazz supergroup Nérija. A diverse songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose work incorporates aspects of electronic music, Afrobeat, and soul, Garcia has backed up artists from a number of different genres, including Makaya McCraven, Joe Armon-Jones, and Ben Hayes.
