Onew

Onew is the stage name for K-pop singer Lee Jin-ki. Best known as the leader of the internationally-acclaimed South Korean pop band Shinee, Onew was born in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi-do, on December 14, 1989. He joined Shinee in 2008 and made his studio debut on the band's first album, The Shinee World, later that year. Shinee topped the Gaon Music Chart with the group's follow-up record, 2010's Lucifer, and returned to the Number 1 position multiple times throughout the subsequent decade, becoming one of South Korean's best-selling bands along the way. While continuing to serve as one of the group's lead vocalists, Onew broadened his career by appearing in the South Korean production of Broadway's Rock Of Ages and hosting a series of televised variety shows, including Show! Music Core and Eat, Sleep, Eat. He also released a slow stream of solo singles, collaborating with Lee Jin-ah on the pop duet "Starry Night" (which peaked at Number 47 on the Korean singles chart in 2016) and contributing to popular soundtracks for the TV shows To The Beautiful You and Miss Korea. His first solo record, 2018's Voice, was a hit in both South Korean and Japan, charting at Number 2 in the former and Number 24 in the latter. Following a two-year stint in the military, Onew returned in 2021 with "Shadow," an original song that appeared on the Breakup Probation: One Week soundtrack.
