Peekaboo

Peekaboo is a Detroit-based DJ known for his blend of dubstep, freeform bass, and space bass. Born as "Matthew Austin Lucas" in Detroit, Michigan, on October 26, 1995, Peekaboo was raised by a musical family, including a father who played trumpet in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Although Peekaboo initially played trumpet, as well, he discovered Skillrex as a teenager and became drawn to electronic music. After studying audio engineering at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he released his debut EP, Revenge, in April 2017. The three-song EP featured his debut single, "Wobbly," which was later covered by Bassnectar. Peekaboo appeared on Bassnectar's Reflective, Pt. 2 later that year and released another solo EP, Filthy Animal Remix EP, in 2018. Two additional EPs, Imposters and Maniac, followed before the year was up, along with collaborations with artists like Wev ("U Don't Know Me") and G-Rex ("Babatunde"). Peekaboo reached the Billboard charts for the first time with his solo material ion 2019, when Wrecking Ball debuted at number 10 on the Dance/Electronic Albums chart. He returned to the charts in 2023, when the single "Badders" reached number 4 on the Top 40 Line Music Western New Releases chart in Japan and number 32 on the Top 50 Dance & Electronic Songs in the United States.
