Peter Kay

Although best known for his work as a stand-up comedian and TV actor, Peter Kay has also released multiple chart-topping hits as a singer, often parodying the musical trends of the 21st century. Born in Bolton, Lancashire, on July 2, 1973, he launched his stand-up career during the late-'90s. Kay often included song parodies in his comic routines, earning his first hit with a cover of Tony Christie's "(Is This the Way To) Amarillo" in 2005. Released as a charity single for Comic Relief, the song climbed to Number 1 in Ireland and the UK. Two years later, Kay scored another UK chart-topper with his spoof on the Proclaimers' "(I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles." He then teamed up with Take That frontman Gary Barlow to co-write "Once Upon a Christmas Song" and "The Winner's Song," both of which became Top 5 hits in the UK and Scotland, and returned to Number 1 with 2009's gold-selling "The Official BBC Children in Need Medley."
