Pink Martini

American pianist Thomas Lauderdale, who founded Pink Martini in 1994, describes the aggregation as "a rollicking around-the-world musical adventure. If the United Nations had a house band in 1962, hopefully we'd be that band." Made up of sometimes one dozen or more musicians with lead singers China Forbes and Storm Large, the group, or orchestra as it is sometimes called, has had eight releases on Billboard's Jazz Albums and Independent Albums charts. They play all over the world singing in several languages, collaborating with a wide range of artists. Pink Martini made their recording debut in 1997 with 'Sympathique' followed by 'Hang On Little Tomato' (2004) which reached number seven on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart and 'Hey Eugene!' (2007) which went to number two on both the Jazz and Independent charts. 'Splendor in the Grass' (2009) reached number three on the Jazz Chart and number ten on the Independent Chart, '1969' (2011) peaked at number five, 'Retrospective' (2012) number six, 'Get Happy' (2013) topped the Jazz Chart and peaked at number six on the Independent Chart with 'Je Dis Oui!' (2017) hitting number two on the Jazz Chart and the World Albums Chart and number eleven on the Independent Chart. their 2018 album 'Love for Sale' reached number four on the Jazz Chart.
