Praise Ugbede Adejo (born on March 8, 1994), aka Praiz, is a Nigerian R&B artist and producer who was shot to stardom after participating in the first season of TV music talent show Project Fame West Africa in 2008, where he finished as second runner-up. With a style that ranges from R&B to Afropop and reggae, Adejo quickly established himself as one of the most versatile artists in the Nigerian music scene, first as a producer and then as a singer with the singles “Bubbling Under” (2010), “I Love you” (2011), and “Rich and Famous” (2012). He gained international exposure after being featured on Bez’s 2011 single “That Stupid Song,” whose accompanying video became the first African video to be premiered on BET’s 106 & Park. In 2014, he released Rich and Famous (Famous) and Rich and Famous (Rich), his full-length debut, to great critical acclaim. Featuring guest appearances by Iyanya, Seyi Shay, and Wizkid, the double LP climbed to the top of the Nigerian streaming charts aided by the singles “Oshé,” “For You,” and “Sisi.” He followed up with the 2015 singles “Heartbeat” and “Amazing Grace,” and then delivered an EP entitled “2 Minutes” in 2018. Preceded by the singles “Me and You” and “Hustle,” King, Adejo’s sophomore effort, came out in 2019 via X3M Music and recruited some of the biggest West African pop luminaries, such as Burnaboy, Stonebwoy, and Timaya.
