Remioromen

Formed in Yamanashi Prefecture in December 2000, Remioromen was a chart-topping Japanese rock band featuring Ryōta Fujimaki, Keisuke Maeda and Osamu Jingūji. Festa, the group's debut EP, was released in March 2003, followed later that same year by the full-length album Asagao. The album peaked at Number 17 in Japan and soon went gold, with the singles "Sangatsu Kokonoka" and "Akashia" both becoming Top 20 hits. 2005's Ether climbed to Number 2 and became the band's first album to go platinum, producing four Top 10 hits as well as the Number 2 singles "Ao no sekai" and "Konayuki." One year later, "Konayuki" won the MTV Video Music Award Japan for "The Best Pop Video Award." Horizon also appeared in 2006, topped the Oricon Albums chart, went double-platinum, and earned Remioromen another Number 2 hit with "Taiyō no shita." The follow-up singles "Akanezora," "Hotaru," and "Wonderful & Beautiful" all cracked the Top 5 in 2007. 2008's Kaze no Chroma peaked at Number 3, followed in 2009 by the chart-topping compilation Remix Best. One year later, the band peaked at Number 2 with Kachōfūgetsu, an album that concluded a wildly successful decade for Remioromen. The band ceased touring shortly thereafter and officially broke up in February 2012, with frontman Ryota Fujimaki releasing his solo debut album, Ookami Seinen, later that year.
