Ren Harvieu

Blessed with a smoky voice and a knack for writing cinematic pop earworms that recall Hollywood’s golden age, Lauren Maria “Ren” Harvieu (born on September 3, 1990) is one of the most compelling singer-songwriters to come out of the UK. Deeply rooted in musical theater, her first MySpace demos caught the attention of Island Records, who signed her at the age of 18. In 2011, the recording of her studio debut had to be postponed due to a serious injury that left her bed-ridden for months. Preceded by the single “Open Up Your Arms,” Through The Night (2012), Harvieu’s much-anticipated first album, received rave reviews and earned her a nomination for BBC’s Sound of 2012 award. Produced by Jimmy Hogarth, the album turned out to be a smashing success, peaking at Number 5 on the UK Album Chart upon its initial release. Following a guest appearance on fellow singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt’s “Sweet Malaise” in 2013, Harvieu secluded herself in the studio to give shape to her sophomore effort. Released to great critical acclaim, Revel in the Drama (2020) saw the light of the day seven years after the singer’s debut and featured production by Romeo Stodart (of The Magic Numbers fame).
