Robert Lavelle Huggar, who goes by just R.L., is an American singer and hip-hop performer who gained fame as front man for the R&B trio Next, whose big hit was 'Too Close' in 1998. He featured on Canadian singer Deborah Cox's 1999 hit single 'We Can't Be Friends', which topped Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. His songwriting credits include tracks recorded by artists such as Luther Vandross, Usher, Keith Swear and Ginuwine. His track 'Do U Wanna Roll', the theme for Eddie Murphy's 2001 feature film 'Dr. Dolittle 2', with Snoop Dogg and Lil' Kim went to number 11 on Billboard's Hot Rap Songs Chart and appears on his 2002 debut solo album, 'RL: Ements', which reached number six on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart.
