S Club 7

The brainchild of Spice Girls and Take That manager Simon Fuller, the all-singing, all-dancing seven-headed teen pop beast named S Club 7 – formed in 1998 - came with a Monkees-style television show, a merchandise range, and even their own gang of mini-clones, the S Club Juniors. Plucked from an open audition of over 10,000 applicants, the seven-member group featured Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Hanna Spearritt, Rachel Stevens, and Paul Cattermole. Their BBC sitcom Miami 7 became the UK's top rated children's series before they went on to dominate the UK charts with 11 Top 5 singles. Gleaming stage school smiles, synchronized dance moves and perfectly produced pop propelled several of their singles to Number 1: “Bring It All Back” (1999), “Never Had A Dream Come True” (2000), “Don't Stop Movin'” (2001) and “Have You Ever” (2001). Their debut album, S Club (1999) reached Number 2 in the UK while their second album 7 (2000) climbed all the way to Number 1. In 2000, S Club 7 won the trophy for British Breakthrough Act at the 2000 Brit Awards. They released their third album, Sunshine, in 2001. The following year, Paul Cattermole left the band, and they were then renamed S Club. After the release of the album and movie Seeing Double, the group split up and each member pursued other interests. In 2008, Jo O’Meara, Bradley McIntosh, and Paul Cattermole reunited as S Club 3 for a series of low-key live shows. All seven members reunited again in 2014 for the release of Best: The Greatest Hits of S Club 7 and a high-profile tour before breaking up again in 2015. In early 2023, the group announced that they would be undertaking a 25th Anniversary tour at the end of the year. However, Paul Cattermole died on April 6, 2023, at the age of 46. His cause of death has not been revealed.
