Safura

Born on 20 September 1992 in Azerbaijan, Safura Alizadeh Aliyevais, known professionally as Safura, rose to fame after winning season eight of national singing competition Pop Idol in 2009. The following year she represented Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest, taking her country to 5th place in the final with the emotive ballad "Drip Drop." She was just 17 years old at the time. Written by Anders Bagge, Stefan Örn, and Sandra Bjurman, "Drip Drop" charted in Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, and Turkey. Safura's Eurovision triumph paved the way for a five-year recording contract with Swedish label Zaphire and her first debut album, It's My War, arrived in June 2010, which contained "Drip Drop" among other singles, and went to number 15 in Sweden. Follow-up single "March On" came later that year and after a few years out of the spotlight, she returned in 2014 with "Tonight." In 2020 she dropped new single "High On Your Love" and the following year released her second album, Möcüze, which yielded the single "L.O.V.E."
