Scouting for Girls

Scouting for Girls were childhood friends who unashamedly came out with a mission statement to make catchy guitar pop, chirpy and melodic enough to worm its way into the minds of anyone whose ears cross their path. Reuniting after finishing university courses, Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse and James Rowland put on their own gigs in their hometown of Harrow and attracted the attention of Epic UK. Debut EP It's Not About You became the highest-ever charting limited release in the UK before single "She's So Lovely" became a permanent radio fixture and shot to number 7 in the charts. Building up a keen following on MySpace and avidly touring the festival circuit, they grew in stature before singles "Elvis Is Dead" and "Heartbeat" proved they were far more than one-hit wonders. Four months after its initial release, debut album Scouting For Girls topped the UK charts in January 2008, going on to sell over 700,000 copies to become the 10th biggest-selling album of that year. The band went on to release albums at a consistent rate over the next decade: 2010's Everybody Wants to Be on TV, 2012's The Light Between Us, 2015's Still Thinking About You, 2019's The Trouble with Boys, and 2021's Easy Cover. The band's seventh album The Place We Used to Meet arrived in October 2023 and went to number 17 on the UK Albums Chart.
