SEAMO

The Japanese rap artist Naoki Takada is best known by his stage name SEAMO. He is one of a number of Japanese hip-hop and rap artists who have built up a following for Japanese-language rapping, a genre which began gathering momentum around 2010. He made his first solo recording appearance in 2005 with the release of 'Kanpaku' and shortly afterwards was launched into the spotlight when he appeared with Benny K on the duo's song 'A Love Story'. A year later Takada released what was to be his bestselling single to date when his song 'Mata Aimasho' spent 14 weeks on the Japanese charts. Takada combines an old school US rap influence with a contemporary Japanese hip-hop style and the formula built a substantial following for his work. With more than 20 singles and eight albums to his credit Takada has a prolific output between 2005 and his last recorded album 'To the Future' which was released in 2013.
