Shindy

Rapper Michael Schindler (September 7, 1988), aka Shindy, is the son of a German father and Greek mother who grew up in his grandparents' Greek restaurant. He began rapping at the age of 14 and his potential was spotted by fellow rapper Jaysus. In 2012, he began contributing guest verses to the work of German hip-hop star Kay One. He featured on Kay One's song supporting the German football team, “Finale Wir Kommen,” which earned him national attention. He then fell out with Kay One and released a track attacking him, before working with another German rapper Bushido. Shindy's debut album was 2013's German chart-topper NWA meaning “Nie Wieder Arbeiten,” translating as “Never Work Again.” His next album was the provocatively titled FvckB!tche$GetMoney, followed by the Bushido collaborative effort Cla$$ic in 2015. In 2016, he released the album Dreams, with the more reflective title track referencing both Simon and Garfunkel and Freddie Kruger, among others. He followed this in 2019 with the single release “Dodi,” which topped the charts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The single was included in his chart-topping fifth full-length, Drama, released in July 2019. A couple of high-profiles with rappers AK Ausserkontrolle (“Hood”), Haftbefehl (“KMDF”), and OZ (“Morning Sun”) ensued in 2020, as well as the single "Mandarinen," which became his second Number 1 upon its release in 2021.
