Sila

Turkish singer-songwriter Sıla Gençoğlu was born on June 17, 1980, in Denizli. Raised in a family with political and artistic backgrounds, her journey in music began in her school days, where her talent was first recognized. After moving to Istanbul for higher education, Sıla studied jazz music and started her professional career as a soloist in jazz orchestras and later as a backing vocalist for Kenan Doğulu. Her breakthrough came in 2007 with her self-titled debut album, which featured collaborations with prominent Turkish artists and produced the hit single "...Dan Sonra." This success was followed by her second album, İmza, in 2009, with its leading track "Sevişmeden Uyumayalım" topping the charts. Her third album, Konuşmadığımız Şeyler Var, released in 2010, was a commercial success, recognized for blending French chanson and Portuguese fado influences. Sıla's music continued to evolve with her fourth album, Vaveyla (2012), and her fifth, Yeni Ay (2014), which was particularly praised by critics and rose to the top of the Turkish charts. Her creative streak continued in 2016 with Mürekkep, another chart-topping effort that produced the Top 10 single "Yan Benimle." She followed up in 2019 with the EPs Acı and Meşk, and issued the greatest hits compilation Acı Meşk Aslolan Heves a year later. Şarkıcı, her seventh LP, came out in 2022 and was praised for its mature themes and sound.
