Simian Mobile Disco

A hugely respected production, remixing and recording project, Simian Mobile Disco are basically two highly imaginative, influential and inventive musicians and techno wizards - James Ford and Jas Shaw. The SMD project began as an offshoot of Simian, an electronic rock band formed by Ford and Shaw in Manchester in 2000. The band did well and Ford and Shaw gradually established their reputations as top DJs with inventive remixes of singles by the likes of Klaxons, Muse and The Go! Team, before releasing Attack Decay Sustain Release - their debut album using the Simian Mobile Disco name. They continued to DJ and remix with shows supporting Klaxons and the Chemical Brothers and released their second album Temporary Pleasure (2009); which included celebrated guest appearances by Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip, Beth Ditto of Gossip and Chris Keating of Yeasayer. While continuing to run various club nights, SMD spent much of 2010 working on a new techno album.
