Stig

The modern-day Finnish equivalent of comedy kingpin Weird Al Yankovic, Stig is a Helsinki-based rapper, producer, and multi-instrumentalist best known for his lampooning of American commercial hip-hop’s most common tropes and clichés. Born Pasi Petteri Siitonen on August 22, 1978, he played in several jazz funk outfits before releasing a self-titled debut album as Stig Dogg in 2006. The LP peaked at 37 in Finland and spawned the single “Rakkauden Bermudan kolmio,” which reached Number 18 on the Finnish Singles Chart. Preceded by the single “Vadelmasuklaa” and the title track, sophomore effort Stigidilaatio appeared in 2007 and climbed to Number 8 on the Finnish Albums Chart. In 2012, Siitonen made it to the finals in the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailuun contest in order to represent Finland at the 57th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with his song “Laululeija,” but was eliminated by Pernilla Karlsson. That same year, he released the Top 10 single “Tyttö sinä olet meritähti” as part of the group Yön Polte and delivered a third full-length entitled Puumaa mä metsästän. Niks ja naks, his fourth album, arrived in 2013 via Warner Music Finland and was followed by Playlist, Vol. 1 in 2018. Subsequently, he took part in the 11th season of TV show Vain elämää in 2020, where he performed a cover of Russe Redford’s “Kuka On Se Oikea.”
