Tatyana Ali

Tatyana Ali (born January 24, 1979) is an American actress and R&B singer who has participated in countless films and TV series. Ali began her acting career in 1985, making regular appearances on PBS’ Sesame Street and Star Search. She had her breakthrough in 1990, when she was cast as Ashley Banks on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a role she portrayed until the end of the series in 1996. Her debut album, Kiss The Sky, was released in 1998 and certified gold in 1999. The album spawned the hit singles “Boy You Knock Me Out,” which featured Will Smith and reached Number 3 on the UK singles charts, and “Daydreamin,” which peaked at number 6. In 2005, Ali collaborated with the singer Terrence Quaites on a cover of “Sunny Valentine” for the soundtrack of the indie flick Rockin’ Meera. She also sang and appeared on the video for the track “Yes We Can,” supporting Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008. A few years later, she released Hello (2014), a 5-track EP whose only single was the dancefloor-ready “Wait For It.”
