The Postal Service

The Postal Service was the name of an American pop, dance and electronic band formed in 2001 by musician Jimmy Tamborello, formerly of Dntel and Figurine, singer-guitarist Ben Gibbard, formerly of Death Cab for Cutie, and singer Jenny Lewis, formerly of Rilo Kiley. They released one album, 'Give Up' (2004), which went to number one on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart, number three on the Independent Albums Chart and number 54 on the Billboard 200. Singles from the album included 'Such Great Heights' and 'The District Sleeps Alone Tonight'. Another single, 'We Will Become Silhouettes', came out in 2005 and then the threesome disbanded. They reunited in briefly in 2013 with performances at venues including the Coachella Festival to mark the release of a deluxe version of their album. They also released another single, 'A Tattered Line of String', which peaked at number 19 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart and number 41 on Hot Rock Songs.
