Kevin McKeehan, who goes by the name tobyMac, is an American Christian singer-songwriter and rapper who achieved fame with the hip-hop Christian group DC Talk, with whom he had hit records and won Grammy Awards, and went on to a successful solo career with more hits and awards. He has had 15 releases on Billboard's Top Christian Albums Chart and won three Grammy Awards to go with his four with DC Talk. Born in Virginia, he attended the Christian college Liberty University in his home state and formed DC Talk while there in 1987. They disbanded in 2001 and as tobyMac he released his debut solo record 'Momentum' which went to number eight on the Christian Albums Chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Rock Gospel Album. 'Welcome to Diverse City' (2004) reached number three on the Christian Chart and also earned a Grammy nod as Best Rock Gospel Album and 'Renovating - Diverse City' (2005) peaked at number seven. 'Portable Sounds' topped the Christian Chart, went to number ten on the Billboard 200 and garnered another Grammy nomination. 'Alive and Transported' (2008) reached number four on the Christian Chart and won the Grammy as Best Rock Or Rap Gospel Album. 'Tonight' (2010) topped the Christian Chart and hit number six on the 200, 'Christmas in Diverse City' went to number six, 'Eye On It' (2012) went to number one on the Christian Chart and the 200, 'Dubbed & Freq'd: A Remix Project' number three and 'This Is Not a Test' (2015) topped the Christian Chart and reached number four on the 200. He has had 36 singles on the Hot Christian Songs Chart with 21 in the top ten including six that reached number one: 'Made to Love' (2006), 'City On Our Knees' (2009), 'Get Back Up' (2010), 'Christmas This Year' (2011), 'Me Without You' (2012) and 'I Just Need U' (2018). His 2017 release 'Light of Christmas' reached number 31 on the Christian Albums Chart and the title track went to number two on the Hot Christian Songs Chart. He does gospel work around the world and has written several books on the topic. His 2018 schedule included appearances at venues in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Louisiana and Texas. He announced his album for 2018 to be titled 'The Elements'.
