Tool are an American metal rock band formed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s by vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey and bass player Paul D'Amour who left in 1995 to be succeeded by current bassist Justin Chancellor. Their 1993 debut album 'Undertow' went to number 50 on the Billboard 200, 'Ænima' (1996) reached number two and 'Salival' (2000) number 38 while 'Lateralus' (2001) and '10,000 Days' (2006) reached number one and the latter also topped the Top Rock Albums Chart. They have had 12 tracks on the Mainstream Rock Songs Chart including five in the top ten: 'Schism' (2001) at number two and 'Parabola' (2002) number ten plus 'Vicarious' at number two, 'The Pot' at number one and 'Jambi' at number seven. They were nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Short-Form Video for 'Stinkfist' in 1997. They have toured internationally and headlined Lollapalooza. Another studio album was released in 2019 and their 2019 schedule included appearances at venues in Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Amsterdam, Zurich and Lisbon with shows at festivals in Germany, Poland, Italy, England, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium and Spain.
