Tovo J'hay

Born on January 5, 1974 in Antananarivo, Madagascar, Tovo J’Hay is one of the country’s most popular and unique singer/songwriters. He is known for writing and performing songs that accurately describe the feelings and emotions of his fanbase. Musically, he has incorporated many influences into his sound but still manages to remain a unique artist. His lyrics depict the daily lives of the Malagacy people, touching on love, hard work, marriage, family, and many other personal topics. J’Hay began his career while still a teenager, playing in bands like Maxi, APY, and The Jays. He began performing under his own name in 1997. J’Hay’s debut album, Satry Foana, was released in 2001. He continued to release a series of successful albums including Teny Mamy (2002), which included the title track, one of his most popular recordings. His other albums include Tia T’Koa (2004), Tay isy toa anao (2006), Antsika roa irery (2010), and Angolanao (2015).
