Youngjae

Known first and foremost as the main vocalist for K-pop powerhouse Got7, Choi Young-jae (born 17 September 1996 in Mokpo, South Korea), working professionally as Youngjae, is also an actor, singer, and songwriter in his own right. He got his start after winning the Vocal Excellence Award at the Mokpo Youth Music Festival in 2011 and was enrolled as a trainee with JYP Entertainment two years later. He debuted as the main vocalist of the seven-member boyband Got7 with the 2014 single "Girls Girls Girls," featured on the group's first EP Got It? and began writing his own music in 2016 under the Ars moniker. Starting out with "Rewind" for Got7's EP Flight Log: Departure, he went on to develop his solo identity further on a range of singles, including 2020's "Everything for You." Spanning R&B, hip-hop and other modern pop forms, his autobiographical debut EP Colors from Ars came in 2021, a record he produced and composed himself. The release reached number six on South Korea's Gaon Weekly Album Chart and spawned several singles including dance-pop number "Vibin." His second EP, Sugar, came in 2022, which went to number five in South Korea while his debut full-length landed in November 2023, Do It, which cracked South Korea's Circle Digital Chart Top 20 at number 13. Also in 2023, he teamed up with COCO for the "Best Friend" single. He scooped the Global Producer Award at the 2024 Seoul Music Awards.
