Yung Joc

The US rapper Yung Joc was born Jasiel Tucker Robinson in Atlanta in 1983 where his father Stanley ran a hair care products company. As his child's interest in music grew Stanley used his contacts in the cosmetics trade to persuade Revlon to commission a jingle from his son. The opportunity provided a springboard for Robinson to get a foothold in the music business and soon afterwards he founded his own record label. Following a meeting with the producer Nikki Beatz in 2005, Robinson and Beatz recorded the single 'It's Goin' Down'. The single took off, prompting Sean Combs, aka Puff Daddy, to sign Robinson to his Bad Boy South record label in a multimillion-dollar deal. Later that year Robinson released his debut album 'New Joc City' and its chart performance projected the rapper into Forbes's Richest Rappers List having earned over $10 million during 2006. As well as his performing career Robinson has also built up a successful artist management agency called Swagg Team Entertainment and the company manages the interests of artists such as Hotstylz, Soufside, Prince Charming and Kidd Starr.
