Antoon

Antoon is the stage name of Dutch rapper and producer Valentijn Verkerk. Born in the small village of Hoorn in the Northern Netherlands (February 11, 2002), he studied at the prestigious Herman Brood Academy, where he became acquainted with fellow rapper and producer Twan van Steenhoven, aka Big2. Despite his initial ambitions of becoming a DJ, Verkerk soon began rapping with friends just for fun, an activity that soon would become his full-time career. In 2020, Antoon became the first artist to sign with Big2’s Dreamteam label, making his official debut with the single “Hyperventilatie” shortly after. He followed up with the singles “Voor Mij” and “Ogen Op De Troon,” both included in his full-length debut De Nacht Is Van Ons, which stayed in the Dutch Top 10 for 7 consecutive weeks. 2020 also saw the release of a collaborative EP with Big2 titled Heilig Water. Further singles “Onweer,” “Op Mijn Level,” and “Dromen” saw the light in 2021 and consolidated Antoon’s reputation as one of the freshest faces in Dutch hip hop.
